SPOOR BULLET COMPANY
HUMBLE BEGINNINGS...
As a young boy, I found peace in the bush alongside my father, hunting beneath open skies. The lingering scent of last night’s fire, the worn leather strap of my rifle, and the unmistakable smell of gunpowder – these were the moments that shaped me.
But nothing compares to the memory of my very first buffalo, taken on the vast plains of Tanzania. That shot is forever etched in my heart, a defining moment that set the course for everything to come.
Back then, the choices for hunting bullets were limited. Though I always found success, I never felt the bullets were truly perfect. The market lacked what every hunter deserves: a bullet forged with passion, built on a legacy of hunting experience, and crafted to uncompromising standards of excellence.
After years of chasing perfect accuracy on the range and wondering how the ideal shot could be supported by a bullet designed precisely for the hunt, Spoor Bullet Company was born.
Our mission was clear – to create the perfect hunting bullet, develop the ideal load, and walk alongside hunters every step of the way.
Today, Spoor Bullet Company stands proudly among the premium choices for hunters worldwide. Though our operations have grown, we have never forgotten that young boy in the African bush. His legacy drives us still, our commitment to excellence remains unwavering, and the Spoor family continues to grow – united by passion, precision, and the hunt.

THE INNOVATION BEHIND
OUR BULLET
Bullet construction is a remarkable blend of engineering, designed to ensure maximum effectiveness and performance. Here’s a look at the essential components that make Spoor bullets so effective.
SOLID SHANK – Ensuring weight retention and penetration
The solid shank is a fundamental element in our bullet construction, playing a critical role in maintaining high weight retention during flight and upon impact. This design enables straight-line penetration, allowing the bullet to drive directly into the target without deviation.
The solid shank serves as the backbone of the bullet, enhancing its accuracy and efficacy.
BONDED LEAD CORE – Facilitating Expansion
At the core of the bullet is the bonded lead, which is essential for initiating expansion upon impact. The lead not only aids in the initial expansion but also supports the copper jacket during this process, preventing it from breaking apart prematurely.
This bonding ensures that the bullet delivers maximum energy transfer when it strikes its target.
PRESSURE GROOVES – Managing Barrel Pressure
Pressure grooves are designed to relieve pressure as the rifling engages the solid shank. This feature reduces friction, leading to consistent velocity and improved accuracy.
TAPERING JACKET – Controlled Expansion Dynamics
Encasing the lead core is a tapering jacket. This design facilitates easy initial expansion upon impact while providing increased resistance as the bullet penetrates deeper into the target. The tapering jacket enables the bullet to expand significantly, resulting in a mushrooming effect that can reach twice the caliber size, maximizing damage and stopping power.
PRECISION ENGINEERING – Consistency in Performance
To ensure the highest quality, our bullets are CNC machined, guaranteeing the most consistent tolerances and weight. This meticulous manufacturing process results in ammunition that delivers unparalleled reliability and accuracy, making it a preferred choice for both competitive shooters and hunters.
WET PACK TESTING
INITIAL TESTING:
Throughout the development process, each bullet undergoes rigorous testing, often using wetpack and ballistic gelatin. Wetpack simulates soft tissue, while ballistic gelatin is designed to mimic the density and viscosity of human or animal flesh. These tests help assess how the bullet behaves upon impact, including expansion, penetration, and overall effectiveness.
BATCH PRODUCTION:
Once the bullet has met performance standards, a larger batch is manufactured. This larger production run allows for more extensive testing in real-world scenarios.
FIELD TESTING:
The bullets are then provided to Outfitters and Professional Hunters, who use them in various hunting environments. Their feedback is invaluable, as they can assess performance under real conditions, such as different game types and environmental factors.
MARKET RELEASE:
Once the bullets have been thoroughly vetted and everyone involved is satisfied with their performance, they are finally released to the market. This collaborative process ensures that the bullets not only perform well in controlled tests but also excel in practical applications. This approach helps build trust with consumers, ensuring they receive the highest-quality product.
